My first post on Jersey Shore Financial Advisor

I am an investment advisor and financial planner. I’m a 34 year veteran (survivor) of the investment industry. I started our family firm, Mullooly Asset Management in 2002. Prior to that I was a stockbroker for 16 years.

I help people manage their investments, and build a better path toward their retirement. I do this in New Jersey (in Monmouth County) which is a great place to live, to work and to raise a family. I love my work.

I also am a husband and a proud father of three grown men – three of the greatest guys you will ever meet. I love my family more than my work.

I also love baseball (the Mets), music, historical biographies, business books and golf.  I don’t play as much golf since a huge block of time is needed.  I’ve got two bicycles and don’t ride either as much as I would like.  I’ve played rotisserie baseball since 1984, and fantasy football since 1990.  I’m a self-admitted gadget-geek.  That’s a lot of interests for a guy who works 60 hours a week and loves his family. But I manage to make it work.

I’m active in my Church (the Church of St. Rose in Belmar), where I am a Trustee.  I also serve on the Finance Council for the Diocese of Trenton.  I’m a member of the St. Rose High School Advisory Board.  I’ve been Little League President, on the board of other non-profits, involved in business networking and other other organizations like Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Yes, I’ve been around the block.  

I’ve learned to get my news online, instead of from a physical newspaper. I used to love politics. But now it’s too polarized, and I am afraid that will not be changing. I actively participate on Twitter, which has (in my line of work) begun replacing the “office water cooler.” 

Twitter is a great place to share ideas, learn new ideas and make some connections.  Let’s connect on Twitter as well, OK?

While Twitter is great, I think blogs are special. Over time, blogs have become a platform for anyone to express their own ideas — and own those thoughts in their own space, not on some social media (owned by a third party). So I am starting this blog. I promise you (dear reader) this site will NOT just be about business. We’re all business over at the Mother ship: Mullooly Asset Management, Inc.

I’ve dubbed this site “Jersey Shore Financial Advisor” because no matter how drastically technology can change this industry, this is still a person-to-person local business.

It’s (still) all about relationships.
